Van Driver / Monitor – Afterschool Program

Do you enjoy working with children and making a positive impact in your community? The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation is looking for dependable, caring, and safety-minded Van Driver/Monitors to join our Afterschool Program.

In this role, you’ll safely transport students to and from our afterschool program while also helping create a fun, supportive, and engaging environment during program hours. If you’re a responsible driver who enjoys working with youth, we’d love to hear from you!

RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Safely transport children between school, the JJK Afterschool Program, and their homes using Foundation vehicles.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain mileage, fuel, and transportation logs.
  • Ensure students are transported safely while following all traffic laws and Foundation procedures.
  • Monitor student behavior during transportation and promote a safe, respectful environment.
  • Assist with youth supervision and activities during afterschool programming.
  • Help distribute snacks and meals.
  • Build positive relationships with youth, families, and coworkers.
  • Maintain a clean and organized vehicle.
  • Support the JJK Foundation’s Winning In Life philosophy in everything you do.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of paid or volunteer experience working with children
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Clean driving record
  • Must be insurable
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, motor vehicle record check, and drug screening

  • Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Stand, walk, bend, lift, and reach throughout the shift
  • Assist children entering and exiting the vehicle
  • Respond quickly during emergency situations
  • Work both indoors and outdoors as needed

Status:

Part-time

Schedule:

Mon, Tue, Thur, Fri 1:30 – 6:00pm; Wed 12:30 – 6:00pm

Salary:

$16.00/hour + based on education/experience
