JJK ACADEMY
The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Academy opened its doors on September 7, 2021.
Scholars were welcomed with open arms and loving hearts by Jackie Joyner-Kersee, members of the JJK Foundation and overwhelming support from the East Saint Louis community. It has long been Jackie’s dream to touch children early in the developmental process. Beyond delivering the highest level of education, the JJK Academy is focused on the mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness of every scholar.

The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Academy opened the doors to its inaugural school year Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 8:00 AM. Scholars were welcomed with open arms and loving hearts by Mrs. Jackie Joyner-Kersee, members of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation and overwhelming support from the surrounding East St. Louis community.

The JJK Academy shares the mission of the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation “To carry out Jackie’s dream to provide youth in East Saint Louis the opportunity to win in life”.
The Jackie Joyner-Kersee Academy uses BJU Press curriculum as the tool of choice for learning. The BJU Press curriculum incorporates a variety of hands-on and multisensory learning approaches. Those approaches focus on academic rigor and include visuals, critical-thinking exercises, manipulatives, and activities that take students farther in their learning journey than just reading a textbook. The curriculum and delivery are designed to be hands-on, catered to different learning styles and supported by appropriate educational technology.
